While the article is quite technical the main point is clear - The standard of non-premium Australian fuels is quite low compared to Europe and the US and it could be damaging your engine.

The article recommends that you:

• Avoid the use of 91 RON fuels if possible.

  • these fuels allow for high sulphur and may cause engine failure in modern or high performing vehicles.

• Keep your vehicle’s fuel system clean.

  • Premium fuels may use a small amount of cleaning chemicals but are not required to. Ask your mechanic if they can clean your fuel system as part of a regular service.
